Christian Scientists practice spiritual healing through silent prayer. Christian Science prayer is prayer from the proper basis, meaning that it is based on the understanding that man is Gods perfect creation, and that man is spiritual, not material.
As Jesus said in John 6:63: It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
Many thousands of accounts of healings of well documented physical problems and injuries are told in Christian Science Publications. Accounts of healing are published on the web and in the monthly Christian Science Journal and Christian Science Sentinel.
In Christian Science spiritual healing, all symptoms disappear, and often all traces of the problem or injury disappear. One moment the problem is apparent, the next moment it is gone. This is possible because man is really a spiritual being, not someone made up of matter with a mysterious invisible spiritual component.
After her discovery of Christian Science, (see History) Mary Baker Eddy described the true man and all creation as follows: There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual.
Because of their total difference in their views of man, Christian Science spiritual healing and medical technology do not mix. However, there is not now and never has been any prohibition in church doctrine of church members seeking medical solutions to any problems.
The practice of Christian Science is a constant effort to know God, to understand His infinite unqualified goodness, and to understand the spiritual nature of man and the universe. Quoting Mrs. Eddy: Spirit is infinite; therefore Spirit is all. There is no matter is not only the axiom of true Christian Science, but it is the only basis upon which this Science can be demonstrated.
